Mercury/Venus Retrograde Look Ahead

(Originally posted Feb 20th 2025)

No big plans for March 1st if possible, Venus retrograde and Mercury retrograde preshadow both begins that day! The shifts into these cycles are always the most jarring, like jumping into a cold pool. The first minute or two is rough, but you eventually adjust and enjoy yourself. Same thing when the cycles end.. When you hop out it's freezing all over again, but you grab your towel and adjust all over.

Astrology is full of patterns and repeating cycles, but every now and then, something happens that makes you stop and say, Wait… what?! That’s exactly what’s unfolding this March and April. A Venus and Mercury retrograde that don’t just overlap, but trace nearly the EXACT same degrees.

Venus retrogrades from 10°50’ Aries to 24°37’ Pisces.

Mercury follows right after, retrograding from 09°35’ Aries to 26°49’ Pisces. If you have something early degree Cardinal or late degree Mutable signs, pay attention to this one!

The last Venus retrograde in Aries-Pisces (March-April 2017) we saw major discussions on misogyny, power, and gender rights as it occurred right in between the Women's March (January) and the #MeToo movement (May). I'm expecting the current wave of conversations, protests, and movements about bodily autonomy, consent, and gender politics to continue the entire year.

I also foresee a softening of people who have had their chests puffed out for months as we take both planets of the heart and the mind out of the sign of the warrior and into the sign of the pacifist.

This all happens right before Neptune leaves Pisces, where it’s been since 2011, to enter Aries. Neptune shifts are generational markers, shaping our collective consciousness. That it happens right in the middle of this Venus-Mercury Aries-Pisces retrograde duet? That’s a hell of a coincidence. We are clearly in a moment of profound transition as a collective.

Let’s break this down—psychologically, personally, and on a broader sociopolitical level—because if history is any indicator, this transit is going to hit hard.

Venus retrogrades always bring a reassessment of relationships, values, self-worth, and finances. But in Aries and Pisces? We get a strange paradox:

Aries wants action, independence, and self-determination.

Pisces wants surrender, romanticism, and blurred boundaries.

This back-and-forth energy is going to force us to reexamine what we want, what we fight for, and what we fantasize about. We'll see themes of:

Self-agency vs. romantic idealism – Are your desires truly yours, or have they been shaped by illusions?

Passion vs. escapism – Are you fighting for what you love, or running from reality?

Hyper independence vs dependence- Do your boundaries serve you or isolate you?

Expect old relationships, unresolved emotional wounds, or financial patterns to resurface. Aries demands action, but Pisces asks, "Are you chasing a dream or a mirage?"

The retrograde ex (boyfriend, girlfriend, spouse, best friend, lover, boss, co worker, WHATEVER) will ABSOLUTELY be in your inbox. We make jokes about Mercury retrograde exes, but adding Venus to it throws that likelihood into overdrive.

I also expect financial turbulence, particularly in military funding, oil, and tech industries. Given the step back into Pisces, I don't think we'll get any real clarity, accountability, or transparency until the Grand conjunction of Saturn and Neptune February 2026.

Mercury rules communication, media, and technology, and retrogrades tend to resurface old conversations, expose deception, and disrupt the flow of information. In Aries and Pisces, truth and illusion collide—which means misinformation, war rhetoric, and hidden agendas will be dominant themes.

Pisces thrives in subtlety, but Aries demands directness. Who’s lying, and who’s just misunderstood?

Mercury in Pisces whispers half-truths behind the scenes. Your frenimy, ex, and toxic family are just as likely as our governments, media, and corporations to rewrite narratives.

Protect yourself now from hacked accounts, manipulated videos, and major leaks as AI, deepfakes & digital illusions blur the line between reality and fabrication even further as Neptune hits the anaretic (29th) degree of Pisces during these retrogrades.

Prepare yourself for possible mental fog, miscommunications, and unexpected issues with plans especially with finances, travel, and project launces. Dreams can be eerily prophetic during this time so keep a dream journal!! Watch for tech glitches, travel delays, and if you have to buy a new car or expensive piece of tech, get the extra warranty and keep all the records and receipts just in case. Double triple check the contracts you enter, but don't delay unnecessarily.

The last time Mercury retrograded from Aries to Pisces was March-April 2012. During that time, we were deeply focused on the Trayvon Martin case, which sparking national debates on race, justice, and self-defense laws. This case was the catalyst for the BLM cause and conversation that continues to this day. His murder highlighted systemic racism in a way that finally got people discussing it seriously and inspired protests against police violence.

Gas prices were also a top concern, with widespread discussions about economic strain and oil dependency. With Mercury retracing these same degrees, we may see a resurgence of conversations about racial justice, flaws in our justice system, and serious economic uncertainty.

These retrogrades aren’t just happening in isolation. They’re crossing between the battlefield and the dream world, between initiated beginnings caused by endings and existential, emotion driven, faith based acceptance and altruism.

This will not just be a personal reassessment. This is a collective reality check before the Grand Conjunction next February. Just as these retrogrades wrap up, Neptune moves into Aries—a shift we haven’t seen since the 1800s.

Last time Neptune entered Aries, the first time on April 14 1861, the world saw the start of the U.S. Civil War (April 12, 1861)

We have to slow down. Retrogrades make us impulsive, but reflection is key.

Trust but verify. Not all that glitters is gold, especially in love or finances.

Meet people where they're at.

People are really radicalizing and getting deeply lost in ideology that is only polarizing us further. We need to meet people where they're at when it's safe to do so and try and get to the bottom of what's creating all of this fear and anxiety. People have a vested interest in your division, they have paid a LOT of time energy and money to create it. I know it's hard and painful and things are really scary but we have to still try and meet people where they're at. No conversation at all doesn't leave a single inch for progress or empathy or understanding. And my god it has to be face to face, all this online interaction and argument is NOT helping. You're interacting with someone's MC not their sun, Mercury, or AC. The MC is nearly impossible for a stranger to influence. This wont be possible for everyone, and I fully respect that. We're tired, we're emotionally depleted, and we dont always have the energy to educate people on how to see basic human needs and supposed granted freedoms. Finding that strength to meet people where they're at to lead them to a place of empathy and understanding isnt always possible, but whenever you can, please do.

Question everything. Venus and Mercury retrograde in Pisces scream "illusion."

Watch legal shifts. Expect pivotal changes around women’s rights, AI regulations, and war rhetoric.

Neptune moving into Aries marks the beginning of a new era, especially as the Grand conjunction of Saturn and Neptune happens at the 0 degree point, literally the start of the zodiac. The last Grand conjunction of Saturn and an outer planet was with Pluto in Capricorn in January 2020 and you remember all too well how drastically the page turned that time.
